A Former Marcel’s Cook Opens the Black Squirrel Sandwiched between Amsterdam Falafelshop and La Fourchette on Adams Morgan’s kamikaze-shot-fueled 18th Street is the Black Squirrel, a new eatery that seeks to bring civilized food and offbeat brews to a neighborhood saturated with jumbo slices and Miller Lights.
Kitchen Favorites: Tom and Derek Brown Brothers Tom and Derek Brown are fixtures on DC’s drink scene. Tom spent a few years running the bar at Corduroy and is now recommending wines and mixing original cocktails at the new, perennially packed Logan Circle wine bar Cork. Meanwhile, Derek has spent the past several years handling wine and cocktails at some of the area’s finest restaurants—Palena, Citronelle, and now Komi.
