Vacancy: Hotel Rooms Still Available for Inauguration

Still stumped on where to stay during the inauguration? If renting an apartment or couch-surfing aren’t your bag, you might be happy to hear that there are still hotel rooms up for grabs.

The DC tourism site Destination DC is on hand to help out-of-towners book one of more than a thousand rooms still available during the inauguration. The easiest way to sort out the arrangements is to call the organization’s toll-free number, 800-422-8644, and talk with an operator to learn which hotels are available, where they’re located, and what their minimum-stay requirements are.

As of late yesterday evening, more than 1,400 rooms within a 30-mile radius of DC were still available for January 19, and hundreds more within 200 miles. Rates range from $100 a night for bed-and-breakfasts 60 miles away to more than $1,000 a night for hotels in DC.

We found rooms at the Gaylord Resort & Convention Center, just outside the District in Prince George’s County, for $799 a night with a four-night minimum. The tab for the entire stay is $3,196.

Operators at Destination DC are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5.
