Members of Congress talk a lot, every week, at great length. But this past week was something to behold. Bernie Sanders spent nine hours on the Senate floor railing against the Obama tax deal, tweeting as he went. Heated debates about healthcare, an omnibus bill, and “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” also spilled over into the congressional Twitterverse. John McCain picks on the little guy, Michele Bachmann has a backup career, and John Shimkus recounts a biblical game of hide-and-seek.
Representative John Shimkus: @RepShimkus John 1:38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi where dwellest thou? Well, I guess that’s classier than “Ollie ollie oxen free!”
Senator John Cornyn: @JohnCornyn Awh RT @allahpundit: ‘Stuxnet virus set back Iran’s nuclear program by 2 years’ http://tinyurl.com/2fnewhk Gee, Senator, way to conceal your disappointment.
Representative Michele Bachmann: @MicheleBachmann As a federal tax attorney, I know our tax code needs to be reformed to bring certainty to our fragile #economy: http://tiny.cc/jxsra #tcot Do you also moonlight as an actuary?
Senator John McCain: @SenJohnMcCain #5. $425,000 to restore the Boonville Hardware Building in Boonville, Mississippi–population 8,360!! Yeesh! Why are you picking on the little guys and girls like that, Senator?

Senator Bernie Sanders: @senatorsanders Sen. Bernie Sanders is now in his 9th hour of non-stop #filibuster. Sanders has not left the floor once in that time. Well, it wasn’t technically a filibuster, but what a feat!
